There’s a lot of times we survey our surroundings and take note of all the things happening in our lives. My surroundings had to change and I transitioned to Philadelphia almost two years ago but a majority of my time is spent traveling back to New York because my home, family, and friends are still there. Granted, I don’t think anyone that knows me can tell you that I am not a sociable person. I make conversation with anyone around me and I pride myself on making sure I am as accessible as I can be. So while I left home and made sure to connect with people where I went, home was still a short trip away and I knew that there was a lifestyle there I wanted to be a part of.
When I finally took the time to stop thinking about the opportunities I could be missing out on by not being where I thought I should be, I realized I am actually always right where I am supposed to be. The situations and circumstances we are in are part of the process. There’s something to learn and take away from all of our encounters. From the people we meet to the locations we live in, there is a lesson to be learned. It is not permanent but the reactions we choose to have to these situations can last a lifetime.
I saw Philadelphia as a small window and once my perspective changed, I took note that it could be a door to a whole new world. It took longer than I would have liked for me to shift perspective but now that it has, I am seizing all opportunities as they present themselves and I am taking note to believe in the process because that’s when things Come Naturally.
So when your surroundings change, note that you can be looking at the light from a window and missing out on the whole new field of opportunity once you open the door.
Until next time,
